Salary sacrifice allows you to make additional voluntary contributions to super from before-tax salary (gross income). By sacrificing cash salary and directing it into super, you may reduce the amount of taxation you pay and increase your future super entitlements by way of an additional lump sum benefit, which becomes payable to you at retirement.
Members are not able to salary sacrifice additional contributions to the Police Pension Scheme. Salary sacrifice contributions can be made from SAPOL directly to the Triple S scheme, which is administered by Super SA. If you choose to salary sacrifice to Triple S, you will have an account established in that scheme and the salary sacrifice contributions will accumulate as a lump sum in your Triple S account with investment earnings less administration fees.
You also have the option to salary sacrifice to a scheme of your choice through an external provider.
Please refer to the Super SA website www.supersa.sa.gov.au for the relevant form to be completed or contact Super SA on 1300 369 315
It is recommended that members seek professional independent financial advice regarding salary sacrifice.
